The curtains for this security shutter consists of interlocking AT3 TITAN slats extruded aluminum type 6061-63. The design offers a flush appearance on both sides. The auto locking features causes the curtain to resist opening when a force is applied from under the bottom bar. The tubular construction minimizes the bilateral deflection. The wall thickness is (.055″) 16 gauge per side. Each end of the alternate slats are to be assembled with end locks to maintain the slat alignment and to act as a wearing surface inside the guides. The slats are designed to withstand windloads of a 20 psf.

The bottom bar is an extruded aluminum type 6061-63. Designed specifically for the TITAN SERIES Bottom bar, it shall have a rubber astragal to form a weather tight seal upon closing of the service door.

The spring counterbalance is to be housed in a steel pipe of the appropriate diameter and the wall thickness as to support the curtain. Deflection shall be limited to a maximum of .03 inch per foot of door width. The springs are to consist of helical torsion type designed to meet a 25 percent safety load factor. The safety factor allows for safe operation, ease of use, and a longer spring life. The springs are to be grease packed and anchored, using a cast iron anchor, to a cold rolled steel inner shaft. The spring tension shall be fully adjustable from outside of the end bracket plate. To ensure smooth operation, the end bracket plates shall contain a sealed ball bearings to minimize the wear of the pipe shaft.

The end bracket plates shall consist of a steel plate no less than 3/16 inch of thickness. The bracket plates are to house a pipe shaft and counterbalance assembly. The shaft is attached to a plate by a sealed ball bearings that are fitted onto the plate.

The Pocket Seal Guides shall consist of extruded aluminum of adequate depth to provide for proper slat penetration and windloading. The guides are to be fitted with nylon brush pile on inner walls. This sandwiches the curtain on both surfaces forming a seal between the curtain and guide, prohibiting airflow through the guides.

The hoods shall consist of a minimum of number 24 U.S. gauge steel. The hoods are designed to protect and house counterbalance assembly.

Full weather stripping shall include:

  • Neoprene hood baffle
  • Nylon pile on all ends of guides
  • Neoprene astragal attached to bottom bar

The locking for chain operated doors are to be slidebolts mounted on bottom bars with provisions for padlocks. The gearing within motors are to be self-locking.

Finish for all non-galvanized surfaces shall receive a shop coat of rust inhibiting primer. The aluminum will have mill, anodized, or Powder Coated finish. Field painting is not included in this section.

Installation to be by USP or by an authorized dealer.
